Reliability Evaluation of Marine Propulsion Shaft System Using Stress-Strength Interference Theory
نویسندگان
چکیده
This study aims at studying the reliability evaluation for the marine propulsion shaft system under the severe sea conditions. The variations of the contact stress between the bearings and the marine propulsion shaft under the severe sea conditions are analyzed using the finite element simulation. The stress-strength interference theory is used to evaluate the reliability of the marine propulsion shafting system. The simulation experiments of the marine propulsion shaft system under the typical severe sea conditions are conducted to validate the stressstrength interference evaluation model.

The configuration of a marine propulsion system is selected with regard to the maximum power resulting from its maximum design speed and displacement. The propulsion systems of high speed vessels use three or even four propellers, and each propulsion unit may be multi-engine. High speed vessels are designed for maximum speeds, but their factual exploitation speed parameters are usually consider...

Abstract The torsional vibration of marine propulsion shafting has been studied for more than a century. With abundant research achievements and experiences, a systematic approach of vibration calculation has been put forward for ship industrial applications. However, literature review indicates that when processing the gear transmission in the shaft line, the meshing motion has been treated as...

Original scientific paper Unexpected severe hull deformation caused by the wave loads would significantly influence the dynamical behaviours of the propulsion system in large scale ships, resulting in degradation of the ship control performance. A new global sliding model control (GSMC) for marine water-hull-propulsion unit systems is proposed to obtain more accurate control performance in this...
متن کاملFuzzy reliability using a discrete stress-strength interference model
Conclusions This paper uses a fuzzy linesegment method to calculate the fuzzy unreliability of a system when only discrete-interval probabilities of stress & strength inside an interference region are available. The discrete-interval probabilities are treated as fuzzy numbers. A stress-strength interference model and extended operations of fuzzy numbers are used to calculate the fuzzy unreliabi...
